The Senior Special Assistant to the National Security Adviser on Countering Violent Extremism, Zakari Mijinyawa, says the Federal Government is taking steps to strengthen law enforcement agencies in dealing with threats to National security.

He spoke in Kaduna yesterday at a community sensitization workshop on prevention of violent extremism sponsored by the United Nations Development Programme in partnership with the Kaduna State Peace Commission and the Office of the National Security Adviser.

“Violent extremists, which unfortunately is being used as misconception of religion, prolonged unresolved conflicts, structural and governance challenges, perception of injustice, have committed untold abuses and violation of human rights and the rule of law.

“Government will not work in isolation because addressing the threats will require research, community engagement, involvement of civil society, community based organizations especially and all stakeholders to play key roles in buildings a peaceful and secure country.
