Brig. – Gen. Suleiman Kazaure, the Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has warned corps members to shun any form of financial or material inducements by politicians during the 2019 general elections.
Kazaure gave the warning on Monday in Katsina while addressing NYSC members batch C Stream II, deployed to the state.
He said NYSC had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with INEC that corps members would be recruited as ad-hoc staff for the forthcoming general elections.
“Try to be neutral, be non partisan during the elections.
“Shun any form of financial or material inducements by some politicians.
“And be in your NYSC uniform on the election days,” he said.
He also warned the corps members particularly females against wearing indecent dresses.
“You should respect culture and tradition of your host communities,” he said.
Kazaure further urged the NYSC members to avoid attending night parties, nigh journeys and be security conscious.
The Director-General called on the corps members to embrace the Skills Acquisition and Entreprenership Development programme (SAED) aimed at preparing them to be self-reliant after service year.
Earlier, the State NYSC coordinator, Hajiya Ramatu Sanda, said that a total of 1,507 corps members were registered in the orientation camp.
She said that the camp has one of the best facilities for Skills Acquisition and Entreprenership Development programme in the country.
Sanda commended the state government for its efforts in supporting the scheme over long period.
She urged the corps members to continue to participate actively in all camp activities and work hard in their various places of primary assignments for the development of the country.
