The Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) has received a total of 1,050 entries from 731 journalists nationwide for the 29th edition of the award programme.
The organisers of the event, the Nigeria Media Merit Award Trust, in a statement by its project director, Adewumi Adediran, said the four-day ceremony was scheduled to hold between October 28 and 31 in Lokoja, Kogi State.
“Notwithstanding the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, a record-breaking 1,050 entries were received across the country, making it one of the largest since the inception of the NMMA in 1991/92,” the statement noted.
The statement also disclosed that the panel of assessors, made up of 25 professionals, was reconstituted and strengthened with nine new members to bring freshness and innovation into the assessment process.
The organisers said the NMMA Kogi, 2021 programme would feature five major events, including the chief host’s grand state reception for all media leaders, veterans, chief executives, editors and nominees, media heroes Nite of Tributes and Annual Media Leaders Roundtable.
Others are the tour of the three senatorial districts by three groups of media professionals and accredited guests, as well as the grand award presentation ceremony.
