The Minister of Youths and Sports, Mr Sunday Dare, has urged Nigerian youths not to lose faith in the country and the government in the effort to take the country to the greater height.
Dare made the call in an interview with newsmen at the nation’s 61st Independence Anniversary celebration on Friday, in Abuja.
He said that the country needed the strength, skills and knowledge of the youths to develop, assuring that the Federal Government was committed to creating opportunities for them to thrive.
“My message for the youths is that they should not lose faith in Nigeria, that this country needs their strength, their skill and their knowledge to develop.
“I want them to know that the Federal government is committed to creating more opportunities for the mass of our youths in this country.
On his part, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Mr Godswill Akpabio, urged Nigerians, especially the youths to continue to exercise patience for the government while making effort to address the current challenges.
Akpabio said that the government was aware that the country was not in the best shape at the moment, saying that all the challenges would pass with unity and confidence in God.
He stated that the youth in the Niger Delta region were committed to one and indivisible Nigeria, saying that they knew that Nigeria had hope of a better future.
“I want to urge Nigerians to continue to exercise patience that the things we see today are not palatable but with the unity of the country and confidence in God, all those things will pass and Nigeria will continue to remain one and indivisible nation.
“Right now the Niger Delta youths know that there is hope for this nation. With what this president is doing and with the interest that he has shown in the Niger Delta region we are poised to make changes and those changes definitely are on their way and some are beginning to happen now.
“I want the youths in the Niger Delta to continue to have confidence and pray for Mr President and pray for our nation and of course, they have already stated clearly that they are not interested in the division.
“In the Niger Delta region, the youths are saying, ‘’on one Nigeria we stand’’ and God will help us to stand and Nigeria will never break up in Jesus Name,’’ he said.
