Haruna Osegba, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, on Thursday promised that the state government will sustain the 100 percent payment of salaries of local government workers.
It would be recalled that the LG workers had been paid in percentages since September 2016.
Osegba, who spoke in Lafia during the Joint Account Committee meeting of LGAs, explained that government decided to end the era of percentage payment since September 2018 to improve the council workers.
The commissioner, who was represented by Bala Sani, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, added that the government would continue to pay full salaries as at when due, even if there was shortfall or delay in allocations.
Mohammed Addis, Executive Chairman, Nasarawa State Primary Healthcare and Development Agency, informed that the governor had given approval for the replacement of health workers who had died, retired, resigned and transferred their services.
Addis also threatened to sanction Directors of Health in all the LGs for failing to submit the list of the deceased staff among others to fill the existing vacancies.
