Two killed in auto crash in Kwara

Two persons have been reportedly killed in a lone fatal road accident on the Ilorin-Bode Saadu expressway in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The incident, according to checks, happened yesterday at 4:05 a.m. at Olokonla village, where the vehicle, a white commercial Toyota Hiace bus with registration number BFU947XA had a burst tyre.

The driver, whose name was given as ‘Tekno’, was said to have subsequently lost control after the incident.

It was also gathered that a total number of six persons were involved in the accident but two died on the spot with three others injured.

One of the passengers was, however, unhurt.

The state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC), Mr Jonathan Owoade, who confirmed the incident, said although the injured victims were taken to Adua Hospital in the community, one of them was referred to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

He added that the corpses had been deposited at the UITH morgue.

Owoade further appealed to motorists and commercial drivers to always be vigilant and ensure they check the state of their vehicles before embarking on any journey.
