Mustapha Muhammad Inuwa, Secretary to Katsina State Government (SGS), has called for collaboration between Katsina, Zamfara and Kaduna states and Niger Republic to improve security in the area.
Inuwa said that there must also be a well-coordinated synergy between the ground and air troops to neutralize and dislodge bandits terrorizing the area.
The state government called on the Inspector General of Police to increase the number of policemen in the state to beef up security.
Inuwa, who stated this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the extraordinary security meeting held in the state, noted that “the number of policemen in the state was grossly inadequate. The governor has directed for a letter demanding for additional policemen be sent to the IG”.
The SSG also called for the deployment of more Armoured Personnel Carriers to the state to assist the security agencies gain access to the criminal hide-outs.
Inuwa added that government would encourage communities to embrace community policing by reporting and tackling informers and criminals within their fold.
He further urged the people to be vigilant and support security agencies in making the state safe, appealing to journalists to collaborate with the state government in educating the people through accurate and responsible reporting.
