Kano council targets 17 percent total population for coronavirus vaccination

The Nasarawa State Government has begun the vaccination of its frontline medical workers against the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sani Abdu, Immunization Programme Officer for Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano state, said that they are targeting 17 per cent of the total population of 587,000 for the Covid-19 vaccination.

He revealed when UNICEF Officers led Journalists to Gwagwarwa Primary Health Care Facility Covid-19 immunization centre for an assessment visit on Friday.

The Programme Officer said that 3,548 have so far received their Moderna vaccine in the area while 169 got the second dose of their Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine which includes health care workers, Frontline workers, elderly people and 18-49 years old.

On the first immunization, he revealed that “we have administered Astra Zeneca COVID-19 vaccine to 18,142 people in Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano state”.

58 year old, Mohammed Ahmad said that he successfully took his second dose of the vaccine and advised the Nasarawa community to come up and take theirs in order to save lives and aid fight against the virus.
