Gunmen kill monarch’s son, abduct daughter in Benue palace

Gunmen in the early hours of Friday stormed Birshin Fulani, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, and kidnapped a nursing mother of three children, Mrs Rukayyat Odedoyin.

Unknown gunmen have attacked Ikpomolokpo palace in Benue State, killing a son of the monarch.

It was gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when the attackers invaded the palace aiming at abducting the monarch and his wife.

Chairman of the local government Chief James Oche, who confirmed the incident said one of the monarch’s daughters was kidnapped by the assailants.

He said, “Some gunmen at about 2 am today (Monday) entered into the residence of the clan head of Ipomoloko through the fence and asked for the wife of the clan head from the son whose name is Thompson.

“The young man told them that he did not know the whereabouts of his mother and they shot him dead and they now took the sister away,” he said.

Meanwhile, the State’s Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Catherine Anene is yet to confirm the report.
