Group lauds Ogun governor over giant strides in war against coronavirus

Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, has sworn in 20 newly elected local government councils chairmen of the state, following their victory at the July 24 poll.

A non-governmental organisation, the Olatunde Awonuga Foundation (OLAF), has urged the critics of Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, to be fair in their judgment with regards to the rating of the achievements of his administration in the last two years that it assumed office.

In a statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, Mr Olatunde Awonuga, the Foundation’s Chairman and Founder, dismissed the erroneous impression being peddled by some critics that the Dapo Abidun administration’s performance was below expectation

Awonuga stressed that the steady and unprecedented achievements of the Abiodun administration in the areas of agricultural development, trade and investment promotion, primary health care delivery, educational development, road construction and rehabilitation as well as the effective control of the COVID-19 global pandemic since its outbreak last year, could not be overemphasised.

He maintained that the dexterity and efficiency with which Ogun State government managed the COVID-19 crisis spoke volume of the huge commitment, professionalism and expertise of the State Medical Team under the governor’s watch.

Awonuga further pointed out that the proximity of Ogun State to Lagos would have made Ogun residents to be susceptible to the menace of COVID-19, but for the different laudable policy measures undertaken by the Abiodun administration towards minimising the spread of the lethal virus in the state.
