Governor Buni’s social media forum urged to improve services

Governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) under the aegis of the Progressive Governors Forum have passed a vote of confidence on the Chairman, CECPC, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State and his Committee Members for their outstanding performance in rebuilding the party.

The Commissioner, Yobe State Ministry of Home Affairs, Information and Culture, Mohammed Alamin, has charged the Special Assistants on social media to the State Governor Mai Mala Buni to positively utilise the opportunity given them by this administration in ensuring maximum projection of the achievements of the government.

He made the plea while speaking during a visit by the forum to his office at the State Secretariat, Damaturu.

According to him, the importance of social media in this modern world cannot be over-emphasized but need to be handled with caution to make a meaningful and progressive impact on the lives of the citizens.

He explained that, Governor Mai Mala Buni’s administration has so far executed meaningful people-oriented projects and will continue to do more with policies and programmes geared towards improving the livelihood of its citizens with proper dissemination of all information and coverage should be the topmost priority of the forum.

Though not much can be done towards censoring social media activities, there is the need for such groups to work in synergy with the Ministry for realistic and optimum publication of information about government and its activities, says Mohammed Alamin.

He directed the forum to liaise with the Director of information for any information on government policies and programmes before releasing such to the public adding that so doing will improve their current status of reportage.

Earlier speaking, the leader of the forum who also led the delegation to the Commissioner’s office, Ibrahim Abba first congratulated the new Commissioner and solicited for continued support, partnership and synergy to enable improved working condition informed their decision to visit the Ministry.
