Akwa Ibom governor, former Kaduna senator urges leaders to learn vision from communist party of China

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Udom Emmanuel, says the idea of random testing for COVID-19 in the state is a waste of government resources.

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has commended the Communist Party of China (CPC) for a laudable administration that transformed China into the global second largest economy.

Emmanuel made the commendation as Special Guest of Honour at a symposium to mark the centenary of China’s governing party, the Communist Party of China, CPC, with the theme: “Communist Party of China at 100: Trajectories, Achievements and Prospects,” held at the Chinese Cultural Centre, Abuja recently.

Emmanuel who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Ephraim Inyangeyen, said, China emerged over the years as a leading country in industrialisation, science and technology and information communication revolution, even adding that she is a major player in world trade, finance, commerce, aviation and international relations.

He urged that CPC’s enduring legacy should inspire political parties in Nigeria to brace up to tackling the challenges facing the country and also develop a template for stability.

He said: “On behalf of the good people of Akwa Ibom State, I congratulate the CPC on her centenary celebrations. I charge the party to remain focused on her ideology which has transformed the nation of China.”

On his part, Senator Shehu Sani charged China to stop loans to Nigeria if the leaders won’t be transparent and prudent in their application of the funds to drive development.

Earlier, the Chinese Ambassador-Designate to Nigeria, Cui Jianchun, said under the China Communist Party (CPC) currently led by Xi Jinping, China has been greatly developed.

Jianchun said the party improved China and contributed immensely to global development.

Giving an insight into the party’s history, he said the CPC, which started with only 57 members, had now grown to have more than 90 million members, making it the largest political party in the world.

He said Nigeria has a lot to learn from the CPC model in order to break the cycle of visionless leadership.

Participants and other keynote speakers at the event included: Yabagi Sani, National Chairman, ADP, Charles Onunaiju, the Director of the Centre for China Studies, and others.
