Abia: FMC chief dies of coronavirus complications

A renowned Chief Medical Officer of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia, Abia State, Udo Orji Nnorom, has passed on.

A renowned Chief Medical Officer of Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia, Abia State, Udo Orji Nnorom, has passed on.

Reports reaching newsmen said Dr Nnorom died on Sunday, September 12, 2021, at exactly 1:25 am at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia where he was rushed to.

The deceased, who was a senior medical staff of the hospital, died of COVID-19 related illness, according to confirmed sources.

Scanty information concerning his death said he took ill on Friday, September 9, 2021, and died barely 48 hours after he felt sick.

Newsmen, who went to his residence located near the State Secretariat on Sunday, disclosed that the gate to the duplex was under lock and key as he could not confirm whether his wife and children were inside the massive building as at the time of the visit.

However, a sister of his, who was contacted on phone, could not conceal her emotions as she broke down crying profusely on hearing the voice.
