Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), has appeared before a senate ad hoc committee investigating some allegations levelled against him.
The upper legislative chamber set up the committee on October 4, following allegations raised by Isah Misau, senator representing Bauchi central.
The senator had accused the IGP of illegally receiving money from oil companies where police officers were sent to provide security.
Misau claimed that the IGP is also having affair with two policewomen whom he gave special promotion.
Last week Wednesday, the committee led by Francis Alimikhena, senator representing Edo north, threatened to issue an arrest warrant on the IGP after he failed to appear before the committee.
But on Friday, the IGP told reporters that he would appear before the committee.
