Goverrnor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, on Tuesday lashed out at his critics, declaring that the policy of his goverrnment to build mega schools across three senatorial districts of the state was informed by crucial need to cater for the collective interest of the masses and fear of God.

He reiterated that obtaining loans to fund some of his capital projects was in the best interest of the people in Osun, stressing what the All Progressive Congress (APC)-led government did is sourcing for loans some years back was to further place the state at a vantage position ahead its contemporaries, regarding infrastructural development.

Aregbesola, who made this known during the commissioning of St. Augustine Government Elementary School, located in Ipetumodu of Ife North local government said “we have chosen to build modern schools’ structures with expectation that our children can be given the hope of a better future and not just any school that lack quality and durability”.

Speaking in Yoruba language to a teeming crowd in Ipetumodu, the governor said “some people had built schools in the past. But, our policy was thorough and purposeful, bearing in mind the future of our youth. If we were to build these schools today, borrowing money with current exchange rate of over N360 per dollar, we would have spent double of what we use to build this educational facility”.
