Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo is assuring all residents of the state, that they’re safe, and can go about their daily businesses.
This was after an expanded security council meeting, which had all state heads of security agencies, traditional rulers and religious leaders in attendance.
The expanded security council meeting of Gombe State is coming on the heels of rising tensions in the south eastern part of Nigeria.
The State government and security agencies are partnering with traditional and religious institutions to ensure that peace is not only maintained but that all residents regardless of religion or tribe can feel safe within the state.
Religion is a sensitive issue which in the past, has provoked violent clashes in some parts of Nigeria.
But these religious leaders at the parley, say they would ensure that there is harmony and mutual respect between their followers.
They also want to sustain continuous dialogue between leaders and followers of the two major faiths.
Gombe has not experienced any major religious or ethnic crisis since it was created twenty years ago.
