Spokesman of the state police command, SP Magaji Musa Majia, told newsmen that the suspect, Bello Burga, died at Tudunwada General Hospital from injuries he sustained from the mob action in Gwarfa village of Tudun Wada Local Government of the state.
He said the suspect, along with five others, armed themselves with weapons and stormed the residence of the victim, kidnapped her at gunpoint, took her to the bush and raped her before they released her the following morning.
Majia said the suspect was killed in another raid at another compound in the same village where they attempted to whisk away another woman.
He said an alarm from neighbours led to the arrest of the deceased by the youth who lynched him.
According to Majia, “On 9/11/2018 at about 0030hrs one Hadi Jana (aka Smally), Bello Burga (late), Nasiru Dankawu, Bala Magaji, Sanusi SNU and Shumo SNU all of Gwarfa village, Tudun Wada LGA, criminally conspired while armed with a locally made pistol and other dangerous weapons, stormed a residential house in Gwarfa village, kidnapped a housewife and went into the bush with her.
