An Upper Area Court, Mararaba, Nasarawa State , on Thursday sentenced a 20-year-old wheel-barrow pusher, Sabiu Musa, to 15 months imprisonment for stealing an Infinix Note3 phone, worth N64,000.
The convict, who resides at Tudun Wada, Mararaba, had pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, trespass and theft.
The Judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, however, gave the convict an option of fine of N10, 000.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Hamen Donald, had told the court that one Michael Esugbe of same address with the convict, reported the matter at the ‘A’ Division Police Station, Mararaba on Aug. 6.
“The complainant alleged that the defendant conspired with one Alias Daddy, criminally trespassed into his room and stole his Infinix valued at N64, 000.
“However, the convict absconded to unknown destination with the stolen phone before he was traced and arrested on Oct. 13,” Donald said.
The prosecutor said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 97, 348 and 288 of the Penal Code.
