Police nab four kidnappers, armed robbers

The Nigeria Police Force says its investigation shows that Boko Haram, Ansaru and other terror groups are getting support from some Nigerians.

The Kogi State Police Command last Wednesday arrested four suspected kidnappers in Oguma, the headquarters of Bassa Local Government Areas of the state.

The feat was contained in a statement signed by the state Police Public Relation Officer (PPRO), William Aya, a copy of which was made available to journalists in Lokoja yesterday.

The state Commissioner of Police, Idrissu Dauda Dabban, explained that following credible intelligence, suspected kidnappers/armed robbers, who have been terrorising Bassa LGA and its environs, have been apprehended.

He pointed that the suspected robbers were sighted in a compound at the new Jerusalem Oguma area in the council area.

Dabban stated that operatives of the Nigeria Police Force attached to Bassa Division led by the DPO promptly swung into action, stormed the compound and arrested the suspects – Guda Dangana, Dogo Chure, Dekina Zhiya, and Samson Nyizo all from Bassa LGA.

Items recovered from them included one locally-made pistol, one 7.62mm ammunition, one cartridge, one G3 ammunition and two human skulls.

The suspects made a useful confession on series of criminal activities within the Bassa axis. The suspects will be arraigned on the completion of the investigation.

Dabban commended the prompt response of the officers, assuring members of the public that Kogi State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies in the state will not rest in its oars on the continued onslaught against criminal elements in the state and to ensure that the state remains the safest in Nigeria.
