The Plateau State Police Command says it has launched a manhunt for kidnappers of the Long Dorok Chiefdom in Shendam Local Government Area of the state, His Royal Highness, David Isa.
Newsmen had reported the kidnap of the second class traditional chief who was abducted by gunmen on Monday night.
The gunmen were said to have stormed his palace at about 8.00pm and whisked him away to an unknown destination during a cascade of gunshots to scare villagers away as they made their escape.
The Police who confirmed the development in a statement in Jos on Tuesday, however, said that a search-and-rescue team has been formed by the Command to apprehend the perpetrators and free the monarch.
Mathias Terna Tyopev, the Command’s spokesman who signed the statement said: “On the 19/11/2018 at about 22:00hrs, the Plateau State Police Command, Jos, received an information that unknown gunmen stormed the residence of “the Long Dorok HRH Engr. David Isah Dongbam, the Second Class Chief of Dorok Kingdom of Shendam Local Government Area of Plateau State and kidnapped him to unknown destination.
”After the receipt of the information, the Command immediately formed a search-and-rescue team which is working assiduously to rescue the paramount puler unhurt.
“The Command shall update members of the public as soon as new information crops in.”
