A middle-aged man, Sylvester Isah, was on Saturday paraded at the Plateau State Police Command headquarters in Jos over the abduction and killing of a property owner, one Abacha Luguda, residing along Bauchi Road in Jos, the state capital
It was learnt that the suspect, alongside his accomplices including the gang leader, Uweni Stephen who is still at large, had sold a landed property to the victim and allegedly killed him when he was invited to collect the documents.
The Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Egbuka who confirmed the incident while briefing journalists at the command’s headquarters in Jos on Saturday said that the suspects took the police to the hills along Zaria Road in Jos where the victim was buried in a shallow grave and his decomposed body exhumed and identified by his family.
The Commissioner said, “On 28th April 2020, a case of kidnapping and culpable Homicide was transferred to the Command from the Special Task Force (STF), Operation Safe Havens (OPSH); a suspect, one Sylvester Isah ‘m’ was transferred along in connection with the abduction of one Abatcha Luguda ‘m’ of Bauchi Road, Jos, who was reported missing since 17th February 2020.
“The Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command was detailed to carry out a discreet investigation. The suspect gave useful information that led to the arrest of one of his accomplices.
“In the course of interrogation, the suspects admitted committing the crime. It turns out that the leader of the gang, one Uweni Stephen ‘m’ who is at large had sold the land to the victim, and when the victim went to collect the document of the property, they waylaid him and killed him.
“The suspects took the Police to the hills along Zaria Road Jos where the victim was buried in a shallow grave. The decomposed body of the deceased was exhumed and identified by his family.”
