The police on Monday arraigned one Laide Inuolaji in an Ogudu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos State, for allegedly belonging to a secret cult, known as “Aiye Confraternity’.’

The police charged Inuolaji, 33, of no fixed address, with three counts of conspiracy, belonging to a secret society and being in possession of dangerous weapon with intent to commit felony.

The prosecutor, Insp Lucky Ihiehie, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan. 15 at about 10 p.m. at Oworonshoki area of Lagos State.

Ihiehie said that the defendant had in his possession, a knife and a shirt with the ‘Eiye confraternity’ Logo and colour on it.

According to him, the offence contravened the provisions of sections 42(a), 51 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.

However, Inuolaji pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum.

She ordered that the surety must be gainfully employed and must provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

Kubeinje adjourned the matter until March 25. for mention.
