Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) trained 104 officers in Niger command in weapon-handling, the Commandant, Mr Philip Ayuba, said in Minna on Friday.

Ayuba said the training took place at the 313 Artillery Brigade in Minna on basic weapon handling, un-armed combat training and internal security drills.

He explained that the training would enhance the capacity of personnel in tackling the menace of cattle rustling, kidnapping, armed robbery, vandalism and other forms of criminality in the state.

He said officers were drawn from various departments of the command, noting that training and re-training was one of the cardinal objectives of the commandant general of the corps to ensure effective service delivery.

He urged the personnel to demonstrate the professional skill learnt while discharging their their constitutional responsibilities.
