A 25-year-old man, Ashofo Monday, was on Tuesday brought before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun over alleged attempt to defile a toddler.

Monday, who lives at No. 23, Ogundele St., Iyana-Iyesi in Ota, is facing a count charge of attempted defilement.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Rosemary Samson, told the court that the accused attempted to defile a three-year-old girl at 3.30p.m. on Nov. 4 at his residence.

Samson said that the accused attempted to defile the toddler by ejaculating on her laps.

She said that the accused was caught in the act by his neighbour, who reported the case at the Onipanu Police Station, Lagos.

Gbesi said that the offence contravened Section 360 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs B. S. Abdulsalam, granted the accused N500, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Abdulsalam ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.

She adjourned the case until Nov. 19 for further hearing.
