Meanwhile, the leadership of APC in Lagos State has been pressured by a group within the party, The Progressive Grand Alliance, to commence the prosecution of the aspirant.

In a statement signed by its spokesman, Comrade Lanre Adaramola, noted that the leadership of the party should ensure the prosecution of the aspirant to purge the party of unscrupulous individuals in the party with a view to preventing recurrence of such act and protecting the image of the party.

The statement reads in parts: “We will set a bad precedent if we allow Alhaja Kafayat Layeni go scot free even in the face of overwhelming evidence against her.

“APC is noted for its integrity and core morals, it must ensure that these values are protected.”

Alhaja Kafayat Layeni, one of the aspirants who contested in the last Ojodu LCDA APC chairmanship Primary Election was accused of presenting a fake WAEC O’Level certificate. But she, with her campaign organization, was said to have earlier debunked the allegations, claiming that there was no substantial evidence to back the claim.
