Four die in cult supremacy battle in Ogun

No fewer than four persons have reportedly died in a supremacy battle between rival members of Aye and Eiye confraternities in the Abeokuta and Itori area of Ogun state.

This has led to the arrest of many members of the two cult groups following a manhunt ordered by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Bankole.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Oyeyemi said several cult members were apprehended following the fatal clashes in different parts of the state in recent times.

The cult members that were nabbed in the course of the operation include Toheeb Erinoso, Olufunso Moyo, Sanya Ayinde, Ramon Oyetola, Akinyemi Olamide, Monsuru Akindele, Adeoba Saheed and Babalola Rasaq.

Recovered from them were three locally made guns and confessions that they are members of the Aye and Eiye confraternity.

Meanwhile, Bankole has ordered the continuation of the operation until all the hoodlums terrorizing the aforementioned areas are flushed out.

The CP also appealed to parents to call their children and wards to order, as anyone caught fomenting trouble under any guise will be decisively dealt with.
