The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ayuba Elkanah, has assured that tactical operatives would continue to engage bandits in a fire for fire operation, saying that the bandits would no longer have the chance to subdue innocent citizens of the state.
The commissioner said he has designed another strategy after his tour of all the police formations and locations in the state.
This was disclosed to newsmen by the state command’s spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu in Gusau, the state capital, saying that the security operatives would not leave any stone unturned.
SP Shehu explained that the command has made adequate arrangements to collaborate with stakeholders especially the traditional leaders in the state, pointing out that they cannot be treated with a mere wave of the hand in any society.
“On a daily basis, the command is making strategies on how to deal with these criminal elements bedevilling the state for no reason”
According to him, the command was very much aware that the bandits’ informers are the number one enemies of the state, stressing that they would soon be pushed out of the ungodly business.
The state police spokesman said that the purpose of the commissioner touring all the police formations and locations was to assess their operational capacity and make appropriate adjustments that will enhance their operational efficiency.
“During the operational visit, the Commissioner of Police charged the operatives to be professionally alive to their responsibility”, the statement noted.
“He further urged them to take care of their personal safety which he said is paramount so that members of the communities can be adequately protected against the activities of recalcitrant bandits and other criminal elements.”
