Nigeria can surpass Western and Asian powers in security and economy as it has the capacity to generate over $50 trillion from security, Prof. Ibrahim Abubakar, a private security expert said on Tuesday.
Abubakar, who disclosed this in Abuja at a conference on “Managing security and security challenges during the forthcoming general elections in Nigeria”, also noted that every state in the country can generate the average of $250million monthly.
The House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence put the conference together.
Delivering a paper entitled ’Security Challenges and Engineering Applications In National Development’, Abubakar said rather than spending so much money on security, so much could be generated from the sector using modern technology.
He told participants that insecurity in Nigeria would have been easily surmounted but for the lip service and lack of commitment on the part of decision makers.
“Nigeria can generate more than $50 trillion from security; 10 times more than what oil and gas can generate.
“If you go to the UK for example, you do not see fenced houses, people pay for security, how many people do you see with armed security agents or escort, none.
“From your vehicle to every thing you can think of in life, there is money to be generated,” he said.
According to Abubakar, “The challenges are enormous, a society without security is a society without development and we can not afford to be stagnant.”
He said that the only way to address the security challenges currently ravaging the country was by using the platform of security engineering.
“But decision makers here are not serious about tackling insecurity because, as I speak I have in the average of 137 public lectures on security engineering in Nigeria.
“The solutions I provided for governments in advanced countries that worked for them are the same things I’ve been singing to successive governments in Nigeria and they ignored.
“Our inability to harness technology that will secure our resources and territory is the reason why foreigners are stealing our resources under our noses and nothing happens to them’, he said.
The expert, who said he ranks amongst the top four and mihht soon become the best in the world, disclosed that he developed systems responsible for the impenetrability of the United States White House, the Pentagon and even Buckingham Palace in the UK from all forms of explosives.
He said technology is important because “human intelligence was nothing in comparison to advance engineering intelligence”.
Abubakar argued that unlike the advanced engineering intelligence, the human intelligence could be easily compromised.
